The MANGO Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility has the following basic lines of research that guide its projects and activities:
Companies face an increasingly international context to carry out their business. Because of globalization of the economy, companies are involved in increasingly international networks of suppliers and customers. The objective of this line of research is to contribute generating knowledge about the best ways to integrate CSR in international company management and their increasingly internationalized supply chains.
In the Chair we understand CSR as the commitment to behave ethically in the relationship with stakeholders and to be concerned about the economic, social and environmental impacts of the conducted activity. The objective of this line of research is to reflect on how companies (and other type of organizations) can implement CSR and identify success factors to integrate this new paradigm in strategy and organizational management.
CSR is the business contribution to the goal of achieving sustainable development. Nevertheless, progress towards a more sustainable model of society requires the collaboration of all social agents: companies, public authorities, NGOs, the media, consumers, etc. In this line of research we will explore the interaction between the company and its various stakeholders within the common commitment to a more sustainable economic, social and environmental development.
Despite the growing importance of CSR and the multiplication of tools to facilitate its implementation, it is still difficult to measure the responsible behaviour of companies in order to assess their progress over time and to compare different organizations among them. In this line of research we aim to advance the development and application of methodologies that allow quantifying the impacts caused by business on society and the environment.
The results of the conducted research projects are published as case studies “CSR in international companies”, research reports and manuals and guides, as well as specialized academic publications.
